Dendrology is the study (or science) of woody plants, particularly trees. This website is designed to assist the beginning dendrologist with plant identification through the use of photographic images. Image contributors include Beth Brantley, Don Bratz, Michael McCormick and Gene Odato. It is important to recognize a woody plant by all of its characteristics: Bark, buds, flowers, form, fruit and leaves. Dendrology is a critical skill in forestry, and it is my hope that students will become successful at woody plant identification.
